SUM TEENS, our youth program, provides a safe place to encourage youth to be world changers for Christ by their faith, spiritual growth, actions and service.
Our Teen Ministries programs include a variety of opportunities for students from 7th - 12th grade. These include interactive Bible studies, service and mission opportunities, and fellowship with friends from church and the community, as well as being involved in the overall life of the church.
SUM TEENS is the Sunday night youth group ministry. Open to 7th-12th grade students, regular meetings are held from September through May. We meet from 36-8pm on Sundays. We get together to hangout over snacks or expend energy in the gym, then have high school led small groups followed by a short message from the leaders. We separate into our middle school and high school groups to chat about the topic and dig deeper into the message.
We have monthly outreach and service projects in addition to quarterly community events. Our goal is to provide a safe place to encourage youth to be world changers for Christ by their faith, spiritual growth, actions and service.
During the summer we lead Vacation Bible School, attend Youth Annual Conference (an awesome retreat at Lakeside), go on the Work Mission trip and have fun service projects and get togethers.
Current SUM TEENS events are always listed in the Weekly Newsletter in your bulletin.
Thursday Nights at 7pm in the youth room.
Youth Work Mission
Each summer a team of youth and adults go on a week-long work mission trip.
On Monday nights, November through February except the first Monday of the month, we have indoor soccer in the multipurpose room. Middle and High School students play from 7:00 until 8:30. Players should wear tennis shoes and shin guards and bring dark and white shirts.
Youth in 7th grade and up are invited to participate in this special class to learn about the church and its many practices, as well as United Methodism specifically as they prepare to join the church. Classes begin in January and youth are confirmed in May.
There are many opportunities for youth to participate in the music ministries of the church including our LIGHTS & JOY ensembles. Contact Amity for more information.
We believe that children and youth should be full participants in the life of the church and should minister in areas where they have gifts and feel called. We have children and youth that serve as greeters and ushers, and children in 5th grade and older are encouraged to volunteer at events such as the Easter Celebration, Harvest Festival, and Breakfast with Santa.
