Sunbury Umc

Come as you are

You’ll find people in suits and ties sitting next to others in blue jeans. Wear what’s comfortable. We’ve got Keurig coffee ready…and we’re saving you a seat!

When you enter through the main entrance, you’ll find greeters who welcome you. As you enter the small lobby, you’ll see open doors to a short hallway on your right. Just through the hallway you can find a coffee station on the left and the sanctuary straight ahead. Childcare is also next to the sanctuary.

If you have questions about your first visit, please contact the church office at info@sunburyumc.org or 740-965-3813.

FAQs

We have two styles. Our modern service includes music led by a praise team. You’ll hear contemporary Christian songs with an occasional hymn or two. Most people dress either casually or business casual. You wear what you like! Come a few minutes early and grab a cup of coffee and chat with some neighbors. There is plenty of seating in the sanctuary.

The traditional service is at 11:00 a.m. Here you can expect choir-led music and mostly hymns as our song line-up. You’ll see people dressed from casual to a little more formal. You wear whatever is comfortable.

We offer child care for the little ones during service. We’ll be right across the hall from the sanctuary and you can easily find us. You’re welcome to attend service with your children too. We also provide children’s Sunday school at 9AM. For that we’re in the Education Hallway on the opposite side of the lobby from the sanctuary.

We are so glad you asked! One way is to join a Sunday school class. You can find details about all these on our Bible studies page under the get connected menu tab.

Another easy way to get connected is to volunteer to serve an ongoing or temporary project. You can find out more on our serve page under the get connected tab or explore our ministries page.

If you’re not sure where to start, we also invite you to call us or send us a note. Tell us you’re looking for a place to get started and we’ll help you find a good place. We’d love to talk with you! Contact us.
